Description
In this session, preliminary research findings will be shared related to News Media Literacy education and its connections to civic engagement. Participants will actively engage in a collaborative discussion on topic areas related to media literacy, news media literacy, and democracy in the age of social media. Resources and tools will be shared.

Learning Outcome #1
At the end of my session, participants will have a better understanding of media literacy education in general and news media literacy in particular. This knowledge will support participants ability to engage with news media more effectively and to help build similar skills in their students.

Learning Outcome #2
At the end of my session, participants will leave with a curated list of tools and resources that will support both formal and informal teaching of media literacy skills with an emphasis on news media literacy.
