Description
Learn how a low performing, low SES elementary school transformed to a district operated STEAM Academy. They will share lessons learned, the impact on the school culture as they implemented core instruction around the NGSS and Project Based Learning, and their experience on redesigning classrooms on a limited budget.

Learning Outcome #1
At the end of my session, participants will be able to use the information gained to begin to implementing a STEAM Model, 5E NGGS lessons and Project Based Learning in their classrooms and school. Participants will walk away with plans and resources to implement in their classroom the next day.

Learning Outcome #2
At the end of my session, participants will gain knowledge of the transformative impact the STEAM model has had in changing school culture, student performance (both in academics and specifically in 21st century learning skills), parent engagement, and the development of community partnerships.

Standards
ISTE 5b - Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
